Product Description

The English & French & German Visual Military Dictionary is part of a series of visual dictionaries designed to fill a niche within international military operations.

They are designed for Special Operations Forces (SOF), Military Training Teams (MTT), (Long Range) Combat Patrols, UN missions, and Joint Operations where a multitude of militaries form a wide range of national and cultural backgrounds have to operate under one unified command. Many times these various units have neither trained together nor do they have a common doctrine let alone a common vocabulary. These dictionaries are designed for use in these types of situations.

Most of the time only a small fraction of the Soldiers in any unit speak a foreign language. Our dictionaries are based on NATO and U.S. Army doctrine and verbiage and can aid the user(s) to learn each other’s jargon and military terminologies.

Unlike some electronic translation aids, our dictionaries do not break easily and of course need no batteries. Under combat conditions time is of the essence and if the words don’t come to mind, a picture is worth a thousand words. Most other dictionaries are too large to carry around and it can all too often take too long to find the right words. Our dictionaries are small enough to fit into any uniform pocket which is a tremendous benefit to the Soldier who has to carry enough equipment as it is.

These dictionaries give the user the most commonly used military words, phrases, graphics, and photos; just enough to plan and execute a mission. The most common uses for our dictionaries are:

– Identification of tactical symbols and maneuver control graphics

– Identification of commonly used weapons, equipment and their major parts

– Use as a “pointie talkie”
